Some people call it murals, some call it artwork, some just simply call it airbrushing. Adding artwork, graphics, stripes or lettering to motorcycles doesn't just customize them; it personalizes them. Whether you want to add some striping to accent & highlight your bike or you want to paint it a totally different color, paint a scene or add lettering to it I can help you.
I originally created this Harley Davidson eagle logo in approximately 1983, which you see in the top photo. The bottom photo was taken in December 2008 of the same tank. The head, tail & claws are silver leaf with airbrushed accents & it's perched on a 23 karat Harley Davidson shield.
The tank on the right is lettered in a style called "Neon", because the lettering is painted to imitate old-fashioned neon tube lettering.
The tank on the right is lettered in a style called "Chrome", because the lettering is painted to imitate actual metal chrome lettering.
The top two photos are of the painted version that I duplicated based on the original decal, which is in the two bottom photos. The lettering & striping, including the pinstripes around the edges of the tank are all painted then clear coated.
The lettering to the right clearly says "Harley Davidson" but it is painted to appear as if it was written with a rope.
My customer, Mr. Tucker, chose to use the theme "Freedom Dreams", honoring Martin Luther King, Jr., President John F. Kennedy & his brother, Robert Kennedy. When he decided to repaint his motorcycle he wanted to keep the same theme, just change the color scheme.
Some customers prefer to use that large space on their fairings to "make a statement". To the left is a ghostly eagle beak & eyes, to the right is "The Mad Bomber", both of which were airbrushed & cleared.
Sometimes the art speaks for itself! Although it's important to note that the bumble bee is painted to the size of an actual bumble bee & the lettering on the "Stranded Bandit" is 23 karat gold leaf with a painted red outline & dropshade. The green tank & fenders below has painted ribbons, the red tank below has painted lettering & ghost flames.
Bo wanted a theme that honored fallen American soldiers from several wars & different branches of the military. The scene on the tank top shows the angels watching over the troops who parachute directly to graves. Each side of the tank has a cemetary scene, but neither side is identical.
